Intralipid is a safe fat emulsion that can be used as a nutritional supplement. Intralipid effectively inhibits the opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore, effectively protecting the heart from ischaemia-reperfusion injury and has some potential to modulate the innate immune response.
