Basiliximab (CHI 621) is a recombinant chimeric murine/human IgG1 monoclonal anti-interleukin-2 receptor antibody. Basiliximab can be used for the research of renal transplantation.

Basiliximab specifically inhibits T lymphocyte proliferation by binding to the IL-2Rα.
Basiliximab binds only to activated lymphocytes and macrophages/monocytes.
Basiliximab does not affect resting T lymphocytes that do not express IL-2Rα.
